From March 7th to 9th, the annual congress of the Iberian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AIZA) took place in Gijon (Asturias, Spain) , with nearly 170 participants from various zoological institutions from Portugal and Spain.
At this conference, several technical, conservation, research, education, and communication works were presented.
The IUCN SSC CEC Behaviour Change Taskforce was introduced among the group of educators, highlighting the importance of the outputs of this Task Force that can offer guidance to other interested groups, both within the IUCN Network such as SSC species specialist groups to other outside IUCN such as the Zoo and Aquarium educators’ community.
The theme of the increasing importance of social sciences was prevalent throughout the conference, demonstrating the growing significance of the subject within the zoo community.
